MiTAC’s Brand-Magellan Announced the new Connected Car Solutions, Off Road Vehicle Navigation Platform with Connected Car and Community Generated Content Experiences, Multi-Function Smartphone Box to Connects Smartphones to Head Units and Infotainment Platforms

(June 24, 2015, Taipei, Taiwan) Magellan, a brand of MiTAC International Corp., which is a subsidiary of MiTAC Holdings Corporation (TWSE: 3706) announced the new connected car solutions for Automotive OEMs during the TU-Automotive Detroit trade show in early June, including the Magellan ORV Navigation platform which was designed specifically for the off-roading enthusiast, and the Smartphone Box, which can connect with either an iOS or Android smartphone to low-power head units.

Magellan and CalAmp（NASDAQ：CAMP） announced the availability of the CalAmp Android-based mobile data terminal (MDT-7) featuring Magellan's professional-grade fleet navigation software. Designed to increase safety and convenience, the MDT-7 provides fleet operators in the U.S. and Canada with access to advanced navigation features such as speed limit and speed alert notifications, turn-by-turn directions, trip planning enhancements and a collection of fleet-specific cloud services.

Magellan Off Road Vehicle Navigation Platform for Automotive OEMs and Power Sport OEMs

The platform allows off-road enthusiasts to plan, track and save trail rides and dirt miles, and add pictures and comments to trails. The Magellan ORV platform includes an online user community. Furthermore, users can also share posts and pictures to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram directly from the Magellan ORV app. In addition, the Magellan ORV platform includes the most comprehensive outdoor trail maps available for off-road enthusiasts, covering all 50 states and Canada.

Magellan's smartphone driven ORV navigation platform is compatible with all major infotainment platforms, including Weblink, CarPlay and Android Auto. To be a resource for the entire off-road community, Magellan's standard iOS and Android ORV apps will be available in the iTunes and Google Play stores.

Multi-Function Smartphone Box for Automotive OEMs

The Smartphone Box provides multi-functionality through the head unit. It offers standard navigational information such as turn-by-turn guidance, traffic information, and the latest points of interest (POI). It may be used to play music off a SD card or USB connection, and it supports various connection platforms, such as MySpin™, WebLink™, and MirrorLink™, between a smartphone and a vehicle's infotainment system.

Infotainment systems have become an essential option for many vehicle owners. The easy-to-install Smartphone Box is an advanced and cost effective solution for vehicles outfitted with only a touch panel or a low-power head unit, or for vehicles without a pre-installed infotainment system. In addition, the Smartphone Box allows auto OEMs to reduce factory costs by enabling infotainment upgrades at the dealer, addressing the various regional demands for vehicle infotainment.
